Dr. Malinda Maynard Husson grew up in Kenova, WV and graduated from Marshall University (Huntington, WV) with a B.S. (Biology) in 1998. She earned her dental degree from West Virginia University School of Dentistry and extended her study of dentistry by completing a General Practice Residency at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, followed by a 2 year residency training program in Dental Anesthesiology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center NY, NY.
Malinda worked as a general dentist and dentist anesthesiologist for several years prior to moving to Richmond, VA to continue her advanced education in Pediatric Dentistry, while successfully completing a Master of Science in Dentistry degree at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry.
After completing her pediatric dental training, she held a faculty assistant professor position in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry at the VCU School of Dentistry and Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.
Malinda is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is married to David Husson and they welcomed their first child in 2014.
Dr. Husson completed her Masters thesis research with an emphasis on pediatric anesthesia. She was a recipient of the prestigious NuSmile Graduate Student Research award from the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and presented her research at the 2012 AAPD annual session in San Diego, CA entitled “Evaluating Postoperative Pain In Children Following Treatment Under General Anesthesia”. Her research has led to a desire to help raise awareness of safety and emergency preparedness with sedation and anesthesia services in dental offices.
Dr. Mindy’s Hobbies: She enjoys spending time with her family, hiking, training with her dog Walter, and staying active with Crossfit competitions and coaching.
