Dr. Elizabeth Miller retired from Richmond Pediatric Dentistry in August 2023.
Dear Patients and Families, I am writing to you today with a heavy heart, but also with a sense of fulfillment and immense gratitude. After many years of serving as your pediatric dentist, I have decided to retire, with my last day being August 24th.
Words are often inadequate to express the fullness of feelings I have towards this transition. It has been a profound joy and privilege to serve and become a part of your families. Every day, I looked forward to seeing your bright smiles and hearing your infectious laughter that filled our practice with warmth.
Each child I had the opportunity to care for brought unique joy and challenge, making every day a rewarding journey. My career wasn’t just about oral health; it was about building relationships, earning trust, and being present in your lives in a meaningful way. Your trust in me to care for your children’s dental health is something I have cherished, and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
In those moments of joy, laughter, and even occasional tears, I found a wealth of fulfillment. Watching your children grow, celebrating their dental milestones, and helping them through their fears has been a truly rewarding experience. It’s these personal connections, the small talks, and shared stories that I’ll miss the most.
As I prepare to embark on this new phase of life, I take with me a suitcase full of memories – memories of shared laughter, breakthroughs, and triumphs over tiny tooth troubles. While I may be retiring from my professional duties, the smiles and laughter of your children will always remain with me.
Thank you once again for the trust and confidence you’ve placed in me throughout these years. RPDO is truly a special place and I can assure you that our team of pediatric dentists and orthodontists will continue to provide your family with the same level of compassion and expert care you’ve come to know and love.
It was a true pleasure being your pediatric dentist, and an honor to be a part of your lives.
Yours sincerely,
Elizabeth C. Miller

There are so many reasons I love what I do. My favorite moments are when a child (and/or parent) has conquered a major fear of the dentist after many previous attempts and develops a “forever trust” in the dentist. Some children and parents never make it past this initial fear and give up, which can create a life-long fear of the dentist. I see it as my job to make the dentist fun and stress-free for the child AND the parent, and sometimes this takes time and patience, and always takes mutual trust between the child, parent, and dentist. I also find much joy treating children with special health care needs.
I held two UR swimming records in the 200 and 400 IM events.
